What is wrong with Dwight Boykins?
In the December 13 special election for City Council,
VOTE NO on DWIGHT BOYKINS

Boykins: Inappropriate Behavior around Teenage Girls
According to multiple news sources, Boykins spoke at a youth summit where he told young girls on the stage to “keep your legs closed” or men “wouldn’t want you in the future.”
Boykins: Sexist Remarks at City Council Meeting
At a City Council Meeting, Boykins told a female CEO of the Houston Superbowl Committee she was working in a “male sport” and joked that she could be his “secretary.”
Boykins, addressing the female CEO of the Houston Superbowl Committee, said that he was impressed with her leadership because “football tends to be a male sport.”
He said the male chair of the Committee “made it easy for you to do your job.”
He then joked, “I have a secretary position in District D – come and work with me.”
The Mayor Pro Tem commented on Boykins’ remarks, saying: “There is absolutely no reason a woman wouldn’t have a leadership role and wouldn’t be able to do everything Sally did.”
Boykins: Pay to Play
Channel 2 Investigates and the Houston Chronicle reported that Boykins did special favors for a major donor who owned a towing company that, according to the Houston Chronicle, “illegally tricked drivers into paying extravagant and unnecessary fees after their cars were towed under the city's Safe Clear program. Investigators said that the towing company … even installed a cell phone jammer in its office, apparently to block stranded and distressed motorists from calling for help.”
The Houston Chronicle also reported that owner of the company had a criminal record with six charges including “felony indictments for insurance fraud and theft, and misdemeanor charges of illegal dumping and assault of a family member.” According to KPRC-TV, the owner had also been fined $183,000 since 2014 by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for alleged violations of towing and storage laws.”
Boykins, accepted $3,500 in campaign contributions from the owner between 2013 and 2016.
Channel 2 Investigates reported that the company owner “got access other constituents did not.” Boykins spoke up for the company and the owner at City Council, and held “a closed-door meeting in his council office with an HPD chief, lieutenant, sergeant and [the business owner] so the business owner could complain about another HPD investigator.”
Boykins: Supported Discrimination
Boykins voted against an ordinance that would have protected women, people of color, and LGBTQ people from discrimination.
Boykins: Plagiarized Opponent’s Website
Devoid of his own ideas, At-Large 4 City Council Candidate Dwight Boykins ripped off his opponent Alejandra Salinas’ policy platform.
One month after Salinas published her priorities page at www.alejandrasalinas.com, Boykins published a nearly identical priorities page at www.dwightboykins.com/priorities. Boykin’s page copies entire paragraphs word-for-word and substantially paraphrases the rest – like changing Salinas’ “We can’t stop the rain, but we can be smart about flood prevention,” to “We can’t stop the rain—but we can outsmart the floods.”
It also appears Boykins used AI to rephrase Salinas’ priorities to make them appear as if they were his own. Originality.ai rated Boykins’ page as “100% likely to be written by AI.”
Boykins: Top Choice of Republican Insiders
In their 2025 Election Voters’ Guide, the Texas Conservative Review endorses Dwight Boykins as the top choice of Republican insiders, from former GOP Party Chair Gary Polland to conservative councilmembers and state officials. They praise him as the candidate who can “hit the ground running” for their agenda and call on voters to elect him as their next ally on City Council.
Republican power brokers aren’t just endorsing Boykins, they’re actively promoting him as their preferred voice at City Hall.
The question is: why are so many conservative leaders working hard to put Dwight Boykins on Houston City Council?
